I studied photography at both West Surrey College of Art and Design and Harrow Institute in London, Initially working firmly within the documentary area of the medium on projects ranging from living with and recording rural communities, to documenting the ‘tramp’ coaster trade in the British shipping industry. I also worked on a series of images that documented the power and mystery behind pre-historic sites in and beyond Wales.

Working for the University of Glamorgan part-time for seven years, I played a significant role in contemporary photographic practice within Wales, becoming the Chair of the foremost photography gallery in Wales.

Firmly believing in the importance of photographic and visual education, I established a photographic tour business, Orangepebble, taking clients to the Islands of Scotland and Wales. I also developed a series of courses in conjunction with the WWT on natural history photography, which featured on BBC Wales.

More recently I’ve turned my attention firmly to photographing the landscape and natural history of the British Isles, also visiting Iceland, Antarctica and New Zealand.

Now retired, I’ve worked on two books with my artist brother Mike, exhibited my work in various locations and continue to build a significant collection of images focussing primarily on ornithology.
