Day Four – Late Afternoon/Early Evening – Badenscallie/Achnahaird Bay

A little past Achiltibuie there’s a road on the left heading down towards the coast. This was our next port of call for an hour or so before moving back to Achnahaird Bay, where we had started the day, for the last of the light.

Badencsallie, like much of the coast along this side of Assynt, has some impressive views back towards Ullapool and the south. It also has a beach of sand and red rounded stones that in the rain were pretty treacherous!

Heading back up the Badenscallie road a very heavy hail shower was followed by a classic rainbow for these parts. In fact there is officially no place better in the British Isles to see rainbows than Assynt!

Back at Achnahaird bay the wind was plying its magic on the waves and a small group of Oystercatchers were working the surf line.
