The morning was spent on the east coast of Luing, at Ardinamir Bay, over looking the island of Torsa. The tide was out and the sky a rich deep October blue, with not a soul around.
Torsa is uninhabited now and was never used for commercial extraction of slate, but was farmed up until the 1960’s. The Farmhouse is now a holiday let and the island can be yours and yours alone, you get the use of a small rib and an electric buggy to get you on and off the island and up to the farmhouse. However, the island can be accessed at low tide via Torsa Beag (Little Island)
A good movement of winter thrushes was underway most of the morning with a mix of Redwing and Fieldfare being joined by the occasional Mistle Thrush.
